Locating a witness can mean the difference between winning and losing a case. We all have had positive experiences with dogs. They are friendly, playful and fiercely loyal to their owner. However, they are not always the friendliest.
What is Locating a Witness?
Locating a witness can be the evidence needed in order to support an argument for a case. In the case of the dog bite, RGH Investigations needed to find a person who was a tenant in the same home as where the dog lived. The challenge was to find him in Mexico where he left a few months prior.
Cause of the Dog Bite
As parents, we all encourage our children to go outside and play especially when you have a gated backyard. A 6-year-old boy went outside to play with his tennis ball. He finds it fascinating that the ball has a great bounce. It can go high, bounce off the side of the house, garage, well…anything.
As he played with his tennis ball, it rolled under the fence just inches inside the next-door neighbor’s yard. The dog was watching him play with the ball and when the ball came to his side of the yard, he sprang into action and ran over to the fence where the boy was reaching underneath the fence for the tennis ball.
The dog never hesitated and with its mouth, bit down hard on the boy’s hand. The dog just wouldn’t let go. The boy couldn’t move and could only scream out in pain. When the dog finally loosened its grip on the boy’s hand, he quickly pulled it back and was free. He went inside the house where he immediately met his mother. She was on her way outside to attend to his screams. When she saw his hand full of blood, she noticed a couple of fingers missing. She retrieved what she could find, and brought him to the hospital.
Building the Dog Bite Case
The family hired a lawyer to help with the situation. Their son had lost one finger permanently, the other is there, but cannot be used. The law firm hired RGH Investigations to locate the witness in Mexico. The man lived in the home and can testify to the severity of the dog’s behavior. The lawyer was questioning the dog’s history and what protections were given to people or children when the dog came in direct or indirect contact.
RGH Investigations
The team at RGH Investigations is proficient at locating a witness. With the little information provided, we began our search online for any indication of his place of residence, places he frequented and more. As we gathered our findings, we began the search. Fortunately, we found him only after a couple of days. He was living with family in Mexico getting himself re-established.
He testified to the behavior of the dog, which was very aggressive and had a history of biting without warning. The dog had attempted to bite him a few times. He was quick to avert the dog’s aggressiveness, but stayed far away from him as a result. His testimony proved key to the case, and the boy and his family are receiving the care and therapy he needs for his hand and the health of his mind.
