As we all know, hiring is a challenge. Then add finding the right individual who has the experience, knowledge and track record of success and it’s like finding a needle in the haystack. That was the challenge for a funding company.
After a long search, the funding company had gotten lucky. They found the right candidate with the perfect resume, which happens to also be an ivy league school graduate. All was going well for about a year until gestures and word choices were making other employees uncomfortable. The behavior persisted and the funding company terminated his employment.
Text Message 1 of 100
The employees were relieved with the termination and everyone thought that was the end. It at least was for them. Texts started coming in to the senior managers of the funding company. Carefully worded texts with messages that were discussing the fallout from his dismissal. The texts were tolerable and ignored until the quantity of texts began to climb up and up each day. Even when the phone number was blocked to relieve management of the constant texts, the terminated employee found technology to get around the situation.
Crossing the Line
As senior management was receiving just about 100 texts per day, the former employee finally crossed the line with a threatening comment. The terminated employee started to make references and correlations to a missing persons case, a murder case and more. Now with a threatening text in hand, the senior management could finally contact the authorities. But once the individual is out, then what?
24 Hour Surveillance
The funding company had enough. They needed to protect their senior management and staff from any more of the threats. They decided they needed to know if the terminated employee was planning any retaliations, small or big. They began their search and found RGH Investigations. After initial discussions, they knew they had the right investigation firm to help with their situation.
Assembling a Team
RGH Investigations assembled a large team of investigators. This was going to be a minimum of one month 24 x 7 surveillance and we needed to be sure the team was never seen or suspected. Immediately, we began to assemble a pattern for the terminated employee’s daily habits which were simply grocery store, workout facility and home. He frequented his ailing mother and never met with friends nor had a romantic relationship.
We continually changed out surveillance investigators and vehicles ensuring our team would never be identified. Senior management had filed an order of protection in order to call upon law enforcement if and when necessary. There was one instance during surveillance, where the terminated employee followed one of the school employee’s home, but before the disgruntled employee could do any harm, law enforcement was waiting at the residence to take him into custody.
Ongoing Efforts
Even though a month has passed and only a single incident has occurred during surveillance, the employees and senior management believed they were more secure and safe with the surveillance. The work continued tracking patterns ensuing he would no longer be a threat to the families and employees of the school.
